Etac Xact is adaptable, offering nine different seat heights to optimize the user's access to the rear wheels and provide the appropriate seat height for transfers. Rear wheels, rear wheel attachments, front forks, castors, and anti-tips can be changed depending on the seat height needed.
Consider this when changing seat height on Xact
Adapting the seat height is always easy to do. Follow these steps on what to consider:
- The seat angle is fixed at 4°; hence, the front seat height is always 3 cm higher than the rear seat height.
- Look in the seat height table below and find the required seat height.
- The table shows the recommended options for front forks, castors and rear wheels for each possible seat height. Some seat heights offer only one possible option, while others may provide several.
Front forks and castor wheel positions
There are three sizes of front forks: XS, S and S+25, with 3-4 positions for castor mounting. The table below shows the recommended combinations of front forks and castors 4”, 5”, and 6”. Decide what seat height you want to achieve and follow the horizontal line for your options.
Rear axle attachments and positions
Standard: E and D. High: C, B and A.
The table below shows positions A, B, C, D, and E in relation to the rear wheel sizes 20", 22", 24", and 25". Decide what seat height you want to achieve and follow the horizontal line for your options.
Tolerance in the above dimensions +/-10 mm.
More combinations than the above may be possible.
Front seat height can be adjusted by:
Adjusting the castor's position in the front forks
The distance between the positions of the front forks is 12,5mm (0,5 inches).
Rear seat height can be adjusted by:
Changing the size of the rear wheel
Choose rear wheels (20", 22", 24", or 25") corresponding to your choice of seat height. Take the distance between the seat and the handrim into consideration if shoulder mobility is limited.
Changing the rear axle attachment
Your choice of seat height and rear wheel determines the required attachment type (standard or high) and position.
Adjusting the position of the rear wheel in the rear axle attachment
The positions in the attachment are labelled A-E (read from bottom to top), with positions A-C in the high attachment and positions D-E in the standard attachment. The distance between the positions is 12.5mm (0.5 inches).
Anti-tipper models for different seat heights
Choice of anti-tippers
Your choice of seat height determines the required model of anti-tippers (1, 2, 3, or 4).
