Etac completes acquisition of Klaxon

Etac, a world-leading developer of innovative assistive devices and patient handling equipment, is excited to announce the acquisition of Klaxon Mobility GmbH in Austria. The acquisition complements Etac’s manual wheelchair portfolio with state-of-the-art power assist solutions and enables Etac to offer a complete mobility portfolio for wheelchair users.

28 June 2024

Founded in 2015 by Enrico Boaretto and Andrea Stella, Klaxon is an innovative developer of power assist solutions. The idea of producing mobility solutions for people in wheelchairs came from the founders’ realisation that it is easier to cross the ocean in a sailing boat than to move around the city. Since then, Klaxon has become known as one of the most innovative players in the field and launched several creative and cutting-edge power assist products that just in a “klick” can be easily engaged and disengaged.

Michael Wirzberger, CEO of Etac, commented: “We are excited to welcome Klaxon to the Etac family. We share the same values and have a common passion for challenging old conventions and developing innovative solutions for mobility and independence. Klaxon’s high-quality and well-designed range of products fits perfectly with our Etac and Ki wheelchairs and enables us to provide a complete solution for wheelchair users. Klaxon with its team also adds a strong digital competence which together with our long and extensive experience in wheelchairs and assistive devices will pave the way for future innovation.”

Enrico Boaretto commented: “We are delighted to be part of the Etac family. Etac’s culture and passion for creating possibilities goes hand in hand with our beliefs. We look forward to continuing the development of Klaxon products within Etac and to combine and leverage our strengths for the benefit of wheelchair users across the world.”

The shares in Klaxon have been transferred to Etac as of June 24th. The parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transaction.
